1. SHAFT SHAPE
Shaft geometry is largely a matter of personal preference.
Advance composite materials and constructions have
allowed for a more contoured geometry preferred by
finesse players looking for optimal feel.
2. BLADE CURVE
The right pattern helps as well. Wrist shots may be better using a mid curve, whereas defensemen
may want a heel curve straight face pattern to launch hard low slap shots from the point.
Pattern translators will identify players’ curves. For example, the first two digits in “194-0” mean
a 19 mm curve. The third number is the place on the blade where the curve starts. Here 4 is a
mid-curve, ‘2’ would be heel curve and a higher number would be a toe curve. Dash-0 indicates
a straight face, whereas dash-1 is a more open face.
